Restaurant Review - New London Inn, New London, NH
We were late deciding where we wanted to go for Valentine’s Day because we had been on vacation. My husband decided on the New London Inn, but was not sure if we could get reservations a week before a holiday. When he walked in luckily he knew someone that worked there. She told him that they were booked, but she called over someone else. They said they would allow us to come in early before regular seating started (5:15 pm) if we agreed to be out by 7 pm. My husband said it was a deal.
When we arrived it was beautifully decorated with fancy tableclothes and red roses on each table. The meal was preset at $55 a person. Each person started with an appetizer trio which consisted of shrimp with a bloody mary sorbert, a blue cheese profiterole with chutney, and asparagus with prosciutto. They were all excellent. To accompany them I had a cheesecake martini, I am not sure what was in it, but it was pink, and it sure did taste like a cheesecake.
Next was a choice of potato leek vichyssoise or a salad with duck. We both went with the salad which was excellent.
The main course was a choice of sea scallops or New York Sirloin. I had the scallops which came with mashed potatoes, green beans, and a halved tomato with cheese. It was absolutely wonderful. My husband enjoyed the sirloin which was accompanied by a twice baked potato, and asparagus.
Dessert was heavenly! It was a a piece of chocolate heaven, topped with a hazlenut gelato, and drizzled with a mocha sauce and a raspberry on the side.
The food was exceptional and the staff very friendly! We cannot wait to go back and order off the regular menu. If you are ever in the Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire, The New London Inn is a must for a great meal!
